Abstract The study about the role played by management practices in the performance of small scale enterprises was intended to contribute knowledge to the existing policy makers to address the issues of management and performance of small scale enterprises, In particular this study helps entrepreneurs to realize the challenges they face in the small and medium enterprises and this study also made some recommendations to overcome those challenges. The study shows how some management practices like organizing, planning, decision making among others contribute to the performance of small scale enterprises. The study also aimed at aiding the efforts of other scholars and libraries. The study comprised of five chapters where the first chapter introduces the study, with its objectives, research questions, hypothesis, significance and the conceptual framework. The second chapter shows the literature review of the study, that is the theoretical review, the need for management practices in small scale enterprises, management skills needed to be competent in small scale enterprises, trade laws and regulations etc. The third chapter shows the methodology by which the data in the study was collected for example through observations population samples, system analysis study among others. The fourth chapter of the study includes presentation and analysis of the findings .the majorly includes the answers to the research questions. The fifth chapter of the study includes discussions of findings of the study, drawing conclusions and recommendations for the research and areas of further research. This study will majorly enable the promoters of small scale enterprises to sensitize management and entrepreneurship skills in a way that will help firms to perform well thus reducing failure rate.
